President Donald Trump’s pick to lead NASA, billionaire SpaceX astronaut Jared Isaacman, will warn lawmakers during a Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday that falling behind in the space race against China could have grave consequences for the United States.

“This is not the time for delay, but for action, because if we fall behind — if we make a mistake — we may never catch up, and the consequences could shift the balance of power here on Earth,” Isaacman wrote in prepared remarks seen by Bloomberg on Tuesday.
