An independent local radio station has ceased broadcasting after just 18 months on the air.
Coast Radio, based in Peterhead, made its final broadcast on Sunday, citing “operational and financial pressures” for the decision.
The station first broadcast in May 2024 with content covering the North-East of Scotland.
The closure was announced in a statement on the station’s social media channels, although there has been no word on whether any jobs were impacted.

It said: “As a small, independent station, we have always operated with passion first and resources second — but sadly, that is no longer enough to keep the station viable.
“We want to express our deepest thanks to every listener, sponsor and advertiser who believed in us. Your support, enthusiasm and loyalty turned a small local idea into something we will always be incredibly proud of.
“We also want to pay a sincere and heartfelt tribute to the talented team of presenters who brought Coast Radio to life every single day.
“Their energy, personality and commitment made the station what it was — warm, engaging and unmistakably personal.
“They put their hearts into every show, and we are incredibly grateful for the joy, character and connection they delivered to our audience.”
