“Her body had shut down all her organs,” he said.
“The wonderful doctors have brought her back though and she is in an induced coma.”
The source of Mowday’s condition has not been determined, however, Rod said doctors suspect she is suffering from toxic shock syndrome, a bacterial infection.
Rod, who flew to Vietnam to care for his sister, told news.com.au it was “heartbreaking” to see his sister in an induced coma.
“She’s on dialysis, had to have a blood transfusion and is on certain drugs to bring her blood pressure back to normal,” he said.
“It got so low her feet and fingers turned black.”

Rod said doctors have advised Mowday has a better chance of recovering in Australia and he has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help cover the costs of getting the process underway.
An air ambulance service he “has on standby” requires A$125,000 ($143,000) to be paid upfront before flying.
The family are also understood to be exploring options such as bank loans and super access to support with the increasing medical bills.
Rod has also contacted the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for additional advice and support, such as liaising with hospitals and local authorities.
Rod, who has returned to his home in Perth, said “Chloe is getting stronger every day” and “doctors are trying their best to fight it”.
He said he was grateful to everyone who had donated towards the A$18,000 raised so far.
“We are proud people and didn’t want to have to ask for help, but people are just beautiful.”
