Nominees for the 83rd Golden Globes have been revealed and there were big wins for Netflix, Neon, Warner Bros, HBO, Apple and Hulu, among others.
Among films to receive multiple nominations were Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which had a leading nine film nominations; John M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good; and Michael B. Jordan starrer Sinners.
The best motion picture drama category comprised Frankenstein, Hamnet, It Was Just An Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Sinners, while the musical or comedy category saw noms for Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, Nouvelle Vague and One Battle After Another.
Best director nominations in the motion picture category comprised Paul Thomas Anderson, Ryan Coogler, Guillermo Del Toro, Jafar Panahi, Chloe Zhao and Joachim Trier.
After Warner Bros’ One Battle, which racked up a slew of critics Best Picture wins this past week, Neon’s Sentimental Value scored eight noms, while Warners’ Sinners had seven and Focus Features’ Hamnet had six.

There were strong showings on the TV side for series including The White Lotus with a leading six noms, Adolescence with five and Severance and Only Murders in the Building which scored four noms apiece.
Best TV drama comprised The Diplomat, The Pitt, Pluribus, Severance, Slow Horses and The White Lotus, while musical or comedy saw noms for Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders In The Building and The Studio.
It was a particularly rosy morning for Netflix and Neon, which garnered a slew of nominations between them. Conversely, Wicked: For Good‘s omission in the best film category was one of the biggest surprises of the morning. Edward Berger’s Ballad of a Small Player, Kathryn Bigelow’s A House Of Dynamite and Sydney Sweeney starrer Christy were among the high-profile movies to pitch a shut-out. There were no nominations in the TV categories for Stranger Things, Landman, The Paper, Dope Thief, I Love LA or Sirens.
With nine nominations, One Battle After Another ties Barbie and Cabaret as the third-most nominated film ever, just behind Emilia Pérez, the second-most nominated film with 10 nominations, and Nashville, the most nominated film with 11 nominations. The second and third most nominated films this year were Sentimental Value with eight noms and Sinners with seven.
Amanda Seyfried, Jacob Elordi, and Jeremy Allen White are all double acting nominees. Chloé Zhao joins the ranks of Barbra Streisand, Jane Campion and Kathryn Bigelow as the only female directors to earn two Golden Globe nominations.
Neon got the most nominations among distributors in the film categories with a whopping 21, a remarkable feat given the opposition. Warner Bros followed with 16 and Netflix scored 13. However, Netflix scored the most TV studio nominations with 22, bringing its total to 35, just ahead of WB’s total across film and TV of 31.
Netflix sensation K Pop Demon Hunters got three nominations but its inclusion in the Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category is likely to irk theatrical distributors given its compressed window and the fact it was made for the streaming platform. Another oddity in that category was the nomination for Avatar: Fire And Ash despite the film not having opened yet.
Winners will be announced Sunday, January 11 on CBS and Paramount+ during a ceremony hosted for a second year by Nikki Glaser.
Here are the noms by film, show, distributor and platform followed by the full list of nominees:
