Kmart shoppers have been left scratching their heads after a highly-anticipated item sold out within minutes. The Digital Family Calendar went on sale as part of the retailer’s Black Friday Deals and people across the country were keen on getting one.
But many found it difficult to find a store that had any stock. Kmart told Yahoo Lifestyle it has been blown away by the intense excitement around the product.
“The Digital Family Calendar has been incredibly popular with Kmart customers, with demand reaching unprecedented levels,” a spokesperson said.

“It’s important to us that we continue to offer these kinds of great products to our customers, and our team is working hard to restock and ensure full availability in 2026.”

The Digital Family Calendar lets you track everyone in your family’s schedule, assign colour-coded tasks to family members for easier planning, and keep grocery lists and dinner plans all in one place.
The 15.6 inch device was on sale for $199. It can sync with Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple iCloud, Cozi and Yahoo.
When not in use, it can serve as a digital photo frame or display the weather forecast.
Aussie mum confused after Kmart item sells out in seconds
Melbourne mum Nali was so excited to buy one of the calendars that she went to her local Kmart at 8am on the first day it was up for grabs.
She said she was one of the first shoppers through the doors that morning, but couldn’t believe her eyes when she found where the item was meant to be on the shelves.
“I have a look…don’t see the calendars,” she recalled.
“[I] wander off to the electronics section, thinking maybe they’re there. No calendars. So I ask someone, and she puts it in the little computer thing and goes, ‘Oh, looks like we’re out of stock’.
“I’m like, out of stock? I’m basically the only one in this shop right now.”
She quickly jumped online to see if any of the Kmarts near her had any stock and claimed they too all said there were no digital family calendars.
“I feel like it’s impossible that they sold out within five minutes,” she added.
“I was the first person in your store… and somehow they were already sold out…it doesn’t make sense to me.”
Nali’s experience was felt by many across the country, with loads of people flooding social media to complain about the exact same experience.
“I rang four stores, no one has any,” said Kmart shopper Lesley. “My closest only had four, and had sold out by 8.05am (store opens at 8am).”
“I feel this and the slushie machine just really don’t exist. Went to purchase during the early bird Black Friday sale and it was sold out,” added another shopper named Angela.
WA mum Nikki was annoyed the calendars sold out “within 5 seconds of launch” in her area, and Queensland mum Rachel said there was no stock available in Townsville.
Yahoo Lifestyle checked Kmart’s site for the major cities and found the product was sold out from coast to coast.
Kmart mum raves about new item
Corinne May was one of the lucky few to get her hands on the item a few days early and told Yahoo Lifestyle it’s “worth its weight in gold”.
“It instantly felt like something that would actually simplify our household chaos instead of adding to it,” she said.
“It’s one of those products you didn’t realise you needed until you start using it.
“It brings a sense of structure to the week and reduces the back-and-forth that comes with family life.”

There are some downsides, however, with the shopper saying that it took a while to set up at the start, especially if you’re using multiple calendars.
“Like any digital product, it relies on power and Wi-Fi, so it’s not as ‘set and forget’ as a paper calendar,” she shared.
While a subscription is available, Corinne said you don’t need it to access the main features.
