Vulnerable patients face fees of up to €50 a month from January if the Government doesn’t reverse course on blister packs.
That’s according to Sinn Fein who say current plans to charge for the medication holders could put people in danger.
The Irish Pharmacy Union says it’s unlikely the funding issue will be resolved by next month.
Pat Buckley from Sinn Fein says it shouldn’t have been allowed to go this far unchallenged.
“Removing that patient safety padlock could be lethal.
“It could lead to people not taking the proper medication, people might not be able to pay for it any more. It’s going to put more pressure on the health service.
“The Government have to sit back and listen to the people. This agreement was vital, and they were warned on this before.”
