Alexander Skarsgård didn’t want to be a nepo baby!

In a new joint interview with Variety, Alexander’s actor dad, Stellan, asked the True Blood alum if he joined the Swedish Army at 19 years old “in opposition to me, to provoke me.”

“Looking back, I don’t think it was an act of rebellion against you,” Alexander, 49, insisted in the story, published on Friday, December 12. “But coming from a bohemian family, I was like, I want to find my own path.”

“The most extreme contrast would be to go into the military,” continued the star, who served in an anti-terrorism unit for 18 months in the Stockholm archipelago. “So it wasn’t a conscious ‘F**k you, Dad’ thing.”

The Dune actor’s response? “I felt f**ked,” he said, describing himself as a “military evader.”

“You’re a tremendous actor, father, because I never felt that,” the Northman star — who is the eldest of Stellan’s six children with first wife My — marveled, before asking how Stellan got out of service, which was mandatory in Sweden when the elder Skarsgård came of age.

The Andor alum, 74, explained that he asked a friend who worked at a rehab center to “write a letter to the draft board saying, ‘If you feel that Skarsgård is fit for military service, keep him under special surveillance because he might influence other kids. He smokes hashish,’” he recounted.

“Four hours later, I got a message from the draft: “Don’t come here. Don’t go near us,” Stellan added.
