Talking about the ratings, the actor said, “I knew that this was going to impact society. There will be people who will first give it very bad ratings.”
Dhurandhar is emerging as one of the biggest hits of 2025. It is being loved not just by the audience but has also impressed the industry as a whole. Several celebrities celebrated the film for its craft, Aditya Dhar’s direction, and the cast, including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna and Rakesh Bedi’s performance.
Some critics had opposing views and negative reviews and
R. Madhavan has addressed the same in his recent interview with Puja Talwar. Talking about the ratings, the actor said, “I knew that this was going to impact society. There will be people who will first give it very bad ratings, and then there will be people who will suddenly go and wonder, ‘Wow, this happened.’ I’m not saying this out of spite, but it’s time to evolve as actors. I don’t want people to see me as the hero – I think I am.”

Madhavan added, “So how do I change? I think that change is required by everybody in the industry, which is why I knew that this was going to be iconic. Full credit to the makers for visualising me in the role they did.”
The pre-release negativity
“But having said that, you are free to express your opinion, but even before the film was released, obituaries have been written, and on its release, you have posted a review calling it a disaster – one wonders if there is an agenda. But as actors, we thrive on this situation.”
However, the film has been banned in all the gulf countries and there seems to be a reason behind the same. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have not released
_Dhurandhar_. There were apprehensions that this would happen as the film is perceived as an ‘anti-Pakistan film’.”
It added, “Also, in the past, such films have failed to procure a release in this region. Yet, the team of
_Dhurandhar_ made an attempt, but sadly, all the countries did not approve of the theme of the film. This is why Dhurandhar hasn’t been released in any of the Gulf countries.”
