It’s time… for another Stranger Things Season 5 trailer, this team teasing the three episodes that will arrive on Christmas Day as Volume 2 of the final installment.
“We failed,” Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers’ voiceover says as the clip revisits the scene right after his sorcerer powers manifested in the cliffhanger ending of Volume 1.
Will’s mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) claims that the battle is not over, “not by a long shot.”
As Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) wander through what looks like a vine-covered Hawkins Lab in the Upside Down, Dustin declares that “this whole time, everything we have ever assumed about the Upside Down has been dead wrong.”
“Mother of God,” the bard says as he and Steve gaze up at a very angry-looking ball of swirling red and black. Those who have red or seen A Wrinkle In Time might be slightly reminded of The It.
Cue Diana Ross’ “Upside Down” as Eleven uses headphones and her now signature dark blue bandana to tune into the void. She asks her long lost sister Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) to help her find and kill Vecna aka Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) aka One.
At least Max (Sadie Sink) and Holly (Nell Fisher) are together, wherever they are, looking down a tunnel with a ladder and later descending a staircase as Mr. Whatsit-Henry vs. gaunt Orderly Henry post-sucking the life out of his siblings flash back and forth in glaring outfit differences.
Lucas, Mike, Murray, Nancy, Jonathan, Dustin, Steve, Robin and Erica bust through the giant gate in the MAC-Z after Nancy goes into sniper mode from a makeshift sunroof in the truck’s ceiling to take out soldiers standing in their way.
“It is time,” Vecna says. “For new worlds.”
And just after we’ve seen that hug between Dustin and Steve teased from before Volume 1 came out, the pair reiterate a phrase from Season 3 that viewers have fixated on: “You die, I die.” That isn’t exactly reassuring for the beloved duo.
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 (Episodes 505-507) arrives Christmas Day 2025 at 5 p.m. PT. The finale arrives in theaters and on Netflix at 5 p.m. PT New Year’s Eve.
