Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11 feature advanced, power-efficient LTPO3 displays that enhance certain watch faces and apps. This technology enables a 1Hz display refresh rate, allowing the display to update each second rather than each minute when in Always-On mode. watchOS 26 fittingly enhances 26 watch faces to support the 1Hz refresh rate.

Additionally, both the Stopwatch and Timer apps can always show real-time progress on Apple Watch models with a 1Hz display refresh rate in Always-On mode.

Some Apple Watch faces are only available on Hermès or Ultra models. Apple Watch Series 10 also supports 1Hz faces and apps. When Apple Watch Series 10 was first released, just three 1Hz faces existed: Flux, Reflections, and Activity Digital.
