Thiruvananthapuram: Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi has received a threat that acid would be thrown on her face if she continues to speak against actor Dileep. The threatening phone call was received today around 12.30 pm. Bhagyalakshmi has reportedly filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident.

The threat was explicit: “If you speak against Dileep again, acid will be thrown on your face.” As soon as she answered the call, the caller allegedly used abusive language and issued the threat. Bhagyalakshmi also said that after this call, she received several more calls suspected to be from a foreign country, which she did not answer.

She added that she had received similar threats in the past and had lodged complaints with the police, but no action was taken. Bhagyalakshmi has been one of the prominent figures who consistently stood with the survivor in the actress assault case, both before and after the verdict. It is believed that the threat is linked to her statement that the verdict in the actress assault case was not just.

Bhagyalakshmi had earlier resigned from the FEFKA Dubbing Artists Union in protest against actor Dileep being reinstated in the FEFKA union. (With inputs from Agencies)
