Two people have been injured following a reported assault in Hamilton early this morning.

Officers were called to Lewis St in the suburb of Glenview at about 12.30am after a report of an assault.

“One person was taken to hospital by associates and was assessed as in moderate condition,” a police spokesperson said.

A second person was also found injured.

St John said it responded with one ambulance and one rapid response unit.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition,” a St John spokesperson said.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident were ongoing.

A scene examination was being carried out at the property today, police said.

St John has been contacted for comment.
