American rapper and record producer Trevor Smith, popularly known as Busta Rhymes, has revealed plans to settle down in Nigeria, saying he hopes to find a home and a wife in the country.

The Grammy-nominated rapper made the remarks on Saturday while performing at the Ilubirin Music Festival in Lagos.

Addressing the audience, Busta Rhymes said returning to Nigeria felt like coming home and marked an important moment in his life.

The Lagos concert was his first visit to Nigeria since 2010, when he headlined the Star Mega Jam concert in Abuja.

He described the trip as more than a performance, noting that it was tied to long-term personal plans.

According to the 53-year-old artist, he is considering buying property in Nigeria and eventually settling down after his music career.

He also expressed a desire to get married and raise a family in the country.

Busta Rhymes, who has been a Muslim since the age of 12, has six children — three sons and three daughters — from previous relationships but has never been married.

Speaking on the atmosphere of the popular “Detty December” festivities, the rapper said he could feel the collective energy of the moment and believed it was the right time to share his intentions with fans.

Busta Rhymes is widely known for his rapid-fire rap style and hit songs such as Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check, Break Ya Neck and Touch It, and has received multiple Grammy Award nominations and international honours.
