Perry Farrell has filed a legal response after his Jane’s Addiction bandmates.

Guitarist Dave Navarro, along with bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins, filed suit against the singer in July. Farrell promptly countersued, citing assault and battery, bullying, and harassment. The trio accused the singer of assault, battery, and breach of contract over the September 2024 show that ended abruptly after Farrell threw a punch at Navarro onstage.

According to People, which accessed the document filed on Monday, Farrell “denies each and every allegation” in the complaint, and affirms that Navarro has not “been damaged in any way or in any amount whatsoever.”

The singer goes on to state that Navarro “fails to state facts sufficient to constitute a cause of action against” him, has “failed to exercise reasonable care and diligence to mitigate (the) alleged claims and damages,” and has “unclean hands.”

Altogether, Farrell’s legal response lists 35 defenses in total. In the suit filed in July, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins are seeking $10 million in damages from Farrell for assault and battery, emotional distress, negligence, and breach of contract, among other allegations.

Navarro’s lawyer, Christopher Frost, responded to People in reference to Farrell’s filing.

“Our lawsuit speaks for itself. So does the video. By responding in this way, Mr. Farrell is not taking any formal legal step to stop the litigation,” Frost said. “This is consistent with the fact that they have taken no affirmative steps to advance their claims, whether serving discovery or otherwise, and it is consistent with the strength of the claims by Dave, Eric, and Stephen.”

Navarro, Avery, and Perkins are currently recording new music together, separate from Farrell.
