Care home residents have enjoyed a trip to an ice rink where they got on the ice in their wheelchairs.

Staff at St Joesph’s Care Home in Jersey took residents to the temporary ice rink in the Weighbridge as part of its Christmas celebrations.

Charles Henwood, 86, said it was “very nice” and “I’ve never done it before so it was something different”.

Anabela Sequeira, from the care home, said: “It’s been beautiful, amazing, and they really enjoyed it.”

It was the first time the care home organised the activity.

Mr Henwood said: “I would have liked to have come here a few years back when I could do everything.

“I liked seeing the youngsters here as well because it’s ideal for them as they skate around and pass us.”
