Charlie Sheen’s daughter Sami Sheen has been left in tears after watching her dad’s documentary.
She shared her emotional response to TikTok after learning why her father, from whom she has been estranged in recent years, decided to seek sobriety.
“I didn’t know I was the reason he got sober,” she wrote over a video of herself with tears in her eyes.

“Honestly a 10/10 documentary,” she added in the caption.
Charlie shares his daughter Sami with his ex-wife Denise Richards. She is 21.
In his documentary AKA Charlie Sheen and his memoir The Book of Sheen: A Memoir, both of which were released last week, Charlie explains that his daughter was ultimately what led to his sobriety journey.

“It was December 10, 2017, and by 9am I was on my third [alcohol]-spiked coffee,” Charlie wrote in the new book.
“My phone rang and when I picked up, it was my daugher Sam asking what time we were leaving. S—; her appointment that day had slipped my mind.”

He then explained that he called a friend to drive him and Sami, who was 13 at the time, to the appointment and explained that “Sam was very quiet” on the drive back to his house.
“I didn’t need to be clairvoyant to know exactly what she was thinking. ‘Why is Dad not driving – again? Why isn’t it just the two of us in the car like it used to be? When will that moment ever return? When will Dad ever return? I miss him,” he continued in the book.

“I missed him too. There was only one thing that felt worse than betraying myself, and that was failing my children.
“In that car, on that day, with my best friend and a child I adore, I joined Sam in those mirrors and saw a guy who was desperate to finally come home for real.”

As he promotes the new book and documentary, Charlie has been open about wanting to leave his trouble past behind him and mend the bonds that had been broken- something he says is “important” to him.
”And there’s a few people still out there that if I could get in touch with them or if our paths are meant to cross there’s still some of that available for them,” he said in conversation with Good Morning America last week.
“This story should have ended 100 times 20 years ago and it didn’t so whatever happens next might be just where some of the real gold has been hidden,” he added.
