Leinster have turned up to Thomond Park and turned the hosts over, winning 8-13 against their old rivals Munster.

Here are our Leinster player ratings.

Backs

15 Ciaran Frawley: It wasn’t a match for the outside backs. Frawley found himself watching the game for most of it rather than being involved. 5

14 Tommy O’Brien: Like his fullback partner, his time on the field was not filled with excitement. He spent much of his afternoon watching on. Looked steady when he was called upon. 5

13 Rieko Ioane: One of the standout players of the evening. He was heavily involved in everything and went looking for the ball. Could, however, have utilised his outside backs more and did knock the ball on in a threatening attack. This being said, he was the only Leinster player to have made a clear break and was one of the few to have provided any sort of entertainment for fans. 7

12 Robbie Henshaw: Made a few solid runs before he was removed with injury shortly before the first half ended. Also worked hard in the breakdown, recovering the ball on more than one occasion. 6

11 James Lowe: Kicking was off point, but in hand, he was one of the few stars who made solid yards. As always, he knew how to wind up the opposition and used his talents to best effect. 6

10 Harry Byrne: Spent more time carrying the ball into contact and missed far too many tackles. Munster appeared to target him with ball in hand, and he wasn’t particularly secure in defence. 4

9 Jamison Gibson-Park: Looked exciting with ball in hand, but the end result was never quite there. He tried his best to open up the Munster defence, but the lack of investment from his teammates didn’t help his cause. One play that summed up his evening was a brilliant loop around the midfield before he booted the ball straight into touch. 6

Forwards

8 Caelan Doris: He made plenty of carries and did well in the lineout. He did, however, lose a couple of turnovers and missed three tackles. 7

7 Josh van der Flier: Powered over from close range for Leinster’s first and only try. He made plenty of tackles, but did miss a couple of hits when it really mattered. However, he was an absolute menace at the breakdown and prevented Munster getting any decent ball. 7

6 Max Deegan: Was the key man at the lineout, but could definitely have made more of an effort to involve himself in the rest of the game. 5

5 James Ryan: Made a crucial rip as Munster were encroaching on the Leinster line and topped the tackle charts. Didn’t pay much attention to the Leinster attack, and when he did, he lost the ball. But defensively, he was infallible. 7

4 Joe McCarthy: Beat a joint high of two Munster defenders, was dominant in the lineout and devastating in defence. Leinster’s star player. 8

3 Tom Clarkson: An incredibly quiet showing, but didn’t put a foot wrong. Displayed perfect scrum stats when brought off shortly into the second half. 5

2 Ronan Kelleher: Fantastic at the set-piece and solid in defence. In a bitty game, he did what he could. 6

1 Andrew Porter: Also a quiet game in attack, but made more of an impact in defence, sitting high in the tackle charts when taken off. Discipline-wise, he was guilty of conceding three penalties, however. 5

Replacements: As Leinster desperately tried to hold on, the defence struggled to contain the Munster resurgence. Credit has to be given to their last-ditch tackles and clear passion, but the score could have looked very different with just a few extra minutes. 6
