“Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that.”

The criticism intensified after sister Khloe Kardashian, 41, announced on Christmas day that she had also bought her family a dog, sharing photos of a black Labrador retriever and tagging Indiana-based Labrador retriever breeder Big Creek Labradors.
“I am not okay right now, this maybe my gift because I could cry @bigcreeklabradors she is the sweetest soul ever!!!!!” Khloe wrote.
Dog rescuer Nicole, who runs the Instagram account @nicoleandthedogss, said celebrities should be encouraging adoption instead of promoting breeders, Newsweek said.
“During one of Los Angeles’ most severe animal overpopulation crises, highly visible figures have an opportunity to influence lifesaving choices.”
“As someone who regularly sees dogs – especially black Labs – being euthanised in local shelters due to lack of space, it’s disappointing to see celebrities publicly purchase and promote dogs by tagging breeders rather than using their platforms to encourage adoption.”
Newkirk also criticised the breeder tag and urged both sisters to consider adopting a shelter dog in future.
“Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous,” Newkirk said.
“We ask Kim and Khloe … to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis.”
The Daily Mail reported Kim already owns two Pomeranians, Sushi and Sake, which she adopted with sister Kourtney in 2017.
She drew controversy in 2022 after a TikTok posted by North appeared to show the dogs kept in a pen in her garage.
The Kardashian family has owned a wide range of pets over the years, including dogs, cats, reptiles and horses, People reported.
