It has been reported that actor Callum Turner has been telling his friends that he’s taking on the new role of James Bond. The question of who is stepping in to Daniel Craig’s very big shoes has been on everyone’s minds for years, but it’s still not yet been announced. There are many celebrities in the running including Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton. But Callum has since emerged as the ‘clear favourite’ for the role.
And now, it seems he’s telling his friends the same thing. Bosses do have plenty of time with speculation suggesting late 2026 or even 2027 as an announcement, with Bond 26 production expected to start in 2027 for a 2028 release, but it seems eyes are now firmly on Callum Turner.
According to The Daily Mail, he has been telling his close friends to claim he’s the new Bond. The source told the publication: “He’s been blabbing all over town. Callum is the new Bond, it’s been confirmed. Everyone in his circle is talking about it. It’s the worst-kept secret going.”
And apparently, his girlfriend Dua Lipa is equally as excited because she’s interested in being the singer to perform the new track. Each year, there’s a classic Bond song, with the likes of Adele, Sam Smith and Billie Eilish all performing songs for the franchise.
If Callum does step into Daniel Craig‘s shoes, it’ll be the first replacement after an incredible stint of Craig as Bond, lasting from 2006-2021, making him the longest serving Bond since the franchise began.
Callum Turner currently sits at the top of the odds to become the next Bond too, with bookmaker Coral placing him at 4-7 to be the next Bond, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson is second at 3-1 and Henry Cavill at 6-1.
“Callum Turner starts 2026 as the firm favourite to become the next James Bond. The British actor has been well-backed for the role in recent weeks and is odds-on to replace Daniel Craig,” said Coral’s John Hill.
Formal announcement is yet to come, but lovers of the franchise are eagerly waiting to hear more information on who will be stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes.
