Black Panther originally had a different costume in the fourth trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, according to a recent report.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters later this year. The sequel, titled Avengers: Secret Wars, is dated for 2027.
Marvel has been releasing teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday over the past couple of weeks. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers will be returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters.
Now, the fourth Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer is playing in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash, though it also leaked online earlier this week. The latest teaser mainly focuses on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, though characters like Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing can also been seen in the footage.
What costume did Black Panther originally have in Avengers: Doomsday’s fourth trailer?
In the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer, Black Panther is seen wearing a new, somewhat blue costume. According to scooper James Mack, however, this wasn’t originally the plan.
Mack wrote, “That blue on Shuri’s suit, in several concept arts I’ve seen, it was purple! It’s a shame they didn’t use it.”
This is just a rumor at this time, and it should be treated as such, as no Avengers: Doomsday concept art has been unveiled to the public as of yet. It’s also unclear if there’s a specific reason why Black Panther’s costume is changing in Avengers: Doomsday, as it remains to be seen if the MCU movie will address this head-on.
Avengers: Doomsday finally arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will then follow on December 17, 2027.
