Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has provided an update on the progress of New Zealand international Chris Wood after surgery to fix his knee injury.

At his latest media conference, Dyche said he was unable to predict when the striker would be able to play again.

“No, not yet,” he said.

“He’s seeing the specialist for a follow-up scan. I think it might be (on Thursday). Certainly by the end of this week or early next week.

“But that’s only a check-up, it’s all going well so far.”

During the Christmas break, Wood underwent surgery to address the knee problem that’s kept him out of action since October.

Chris Wood … underwent surgery in December.

Wood’s knee problems became apparent in October, and he missed New Zealand’s November friendly internationals against Colombia and Ecuador, played in the United States, and has not featured for Forest since mid-October.

Wood has yet to play for manager Sean Dyche since he replaced Ange Postecoglou as Forest manager.

He is unlikely to be involved in New Zealand’s two upcoming internationals in March when they’ll play in a series with Finland, Chile and Cape Verde in Auckland.
