Kate Hudson‘s latest look will have you doing a double take. Stepping out for the Variety & Golden Globes Pre-Golden Globes Party on January 9, the Almost Famous actress wore a black gown that was more lace than dress. Styled by Sophie Lopez, she wore the witchy, wintery Long Open Neck Lace Dress by Nina Ricci, which features a delicate sheer black lace design, with a few strategic satin panels. The gown has long sleeves, a wide sweetheart neckline and a fluttery, feminine midiskirt. It’s almost entirely lace, apart from the tiny bow bra across the chest and the matching miniskirt panel.

Hudson kept things simple, going sans necklace and wearing a pair of dainty diamond drop earrings. She switched things up in the hair department, rocking an intricate braided updo courtesy of Renato Campora, and went for a bold, smokey makeup look by Tonya Brewer. She completed the look with metallic silver strappy heels.
The dress featured opaque satin panels.

This marks the beginning of a rather exciting awards season for Hudson, whose turn in Craig Brewer’s Song Sung Blue has already earned her a number of award nods. She was up for a Critics Choice Award last weekend and tomorrow, she’s up for another Best Supporting Actress Awards at the Golden Globes. She’s also received a nod from SAG. With the Oscar nominations fast approaching, she’s very much in the running for a nomination.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter of her award success this season, she reflected, “When you’re younger and this happens, there’s a different feeling to it — it’s more of a shock entrance, or invitation, into this world. But when you’ve been in it for 26 years—I was 19, acting in Almost Famous—it’s a completely different relationship to the kindness and outpouring of positivity. It feels just so warm. It’s a very nice feeling, and also inspiring. It gets me excited about the things moving forward that I want to be doing.”
