Originally set to be visiting Aotearoa New Zealand in mid-2020 before a curveball called the global pandemic happened, it’s been an interminable wait ever since for local fans of California Gore Metal icons Exhumed. Propagators of unapologetically grisly death metal for more than four decades — utilising violent lyrical themes to pointedly critique late-stage capitalism — and still helmed by core members Matt Harvey (who founded the group in 1990 at the age of fifteen) and Ross Sewage, Exhumed will finally be blasting our ears at Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s Valhalla and Tāmaki Makaurau’s Whammy Bar this May.
