The 2025 Emmys were a mixed bag of landmark wins, very short speeches (thanks to host Nate Bargatze’s brutal threat to take money away from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America), fun presenter cameos, and the inevitable jokes that simply fell flat. But really, does it even matter how well or how poorly a Hollywood awards show goes in this day and age, when we’re all mostly watching for social media fodder?
Obviously, there’s still some allure to the old-school pageantry and pomp of television’s biggest night, but truly, as long as I’m getting my IV drip of X responses to the goings-on at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater, I’m all set.
