One person has died after a home went up in flames in an inner Christchurch suburb.

Police confirmed the person’s death after the blaze on Korimako Lane, Sydenham, this afternoon.

Police said they were called to assist Fire and Emergency New Zealand at the property about 4pm.

“One person
was transported to hospital in critical condition, where they sadly passed away,” police said.
