Revolut has launched RevPoints in New Zealand, a rewards programme that lets customers earn points on everyday spending and redeem them for travel-related discounts, airline miles and gift cards.
The fintech said RevPoints has no cap on the number of points customers can earn. The company positioned the programme as an alternative to traditional rewards schemes linked to credit cards.
RevPoints sits inside the Revolut app. Customers earn points from card spending and then redeem them through a dedicated section of the product.
Airline transfers
Revolut said customers can convert RevPoints into airline miles at a 1:1 rate. The company said the programme connects with 12 airline loyalty programmes, including Etihad, British Airways and Qatar.
The airline transfer option places RevPoints in direct competition with established points systems that banks often bundle with premium cards. It also signals a push by Revolut to deepen everyday account usage in New Zealand, where banks have historically dominated payments and loyalty.
Revolut described RevPoints as a “rewards ecosystem”. The company said it targets customers who want points redemption without taking out a credit card or paying higher card fees.
In-app travel
RevPoints can also be redeemed for discounts on travel bookings within the Revolut app. The company said the options include “Stays” for hotels and other accommodations, and “Experiences” for tours and attractions.
Revolut said customers can use points for in-app shopping and bookings. The company also said customers can use points for eSIM data plan purchases.
The approach broadens rewards redemption beyond flights. It also places Revolut’s loyalty offer closer to travel platforms that package accommodation, activities and add-ons for customers who book through an app.
Gift cards
RevPoints includes a gift card redemption option for major consumer brands. Revolut listed Uber, Doordash, Xbox, Sony PSN and Airbnb among the partners available in the app.
The company framed gift cards as a route to everyday savings and leisure spending. Revolut said customers can redeem points directly in the app rather than relying on a separate points portal or a physical card issuer programme.
Customer sentiment
Revolut cited research on dissatisfaction with existing loyalty programmes in New Zealand. It referenced a YouGov survey of 1,000 New Zealanders that Revolut commissioned in September 2025.
One finding from the survey stated that only 11% of New Zealanders feel they get genuinely high value from the rewards programmes they currently use.
Revolut has more than 65 million customers worldwide. It started in the UK with money transfer and exchange services. The company now offers a range of personal finance products and processes more than a billion transactions a month, according to its own figures.
Georgia Grange oversees Revolut’s New Zealand business. She linked the new scheme to consumer perceptions of value in loyalty programmes.
“Kiwis are incredibly savvy – they’re always looking for the best value. But our research shows the loyalty landscape is giving them a raw deal: only 11% of New Zealanders feel they get genuinely high value from the rewards programs they currently use. That’s a massive failure rate for the status quo,” said Georgia Grange, Head of New Zealand, Revolut.
Grange said Revolut designed RevPoints through access without a credit card requirement.
“RevPoints is our direct answer to that frustration. We’re ripping up the rulebook by dismantling the biggest barrier: the credit card. We’re democratising rewards points for flights, unique experiences, and other tangible benefits, making them more accessible for everyone. This is about empowering New Zealanders to get real rewards simply for spending their own money,” said Grange.
Product focus
Christopher Guttridge leads lifestyle products at Revolut. He said the company aims to link rewards to routine spending through the Revolut account.
“At Revolut, our focus is on helping our customers get the best bang for their buck. RevPoints transforms everyday spending into rewards and experiences people genuinely love. Unlike many loyalty programs out there, we’ve made RevPoints truly accessible – our customers can maximise the benefits just by using Revolut as their everyday account,” said Guttridge.
Revolut said RevPoints adds a new layer to its app-based offering in New Zealand. The company said the scheme offers multiple redemption routes, including airline miles, travel discounts and consumer gift cards, as it seeks broader usage of the Revolut account for everyday payments.
