Five years later, the drama surrounding Chris Noth’s exit from And Just Like That … is still haunting us. After seemingly taking a jab at Sarah Jessica Parker in his Instagram comments section this month, Noth is now saying that actually, he was just kidding.
Last week, Noth, who starred as Mr. Big in Sex and the City and both of its subsequent movies, posted a grizzled photo of himself mean-mugging while working out in the gym with the caption, “F&@k new years – LETS GO!!!!” One follower responded, “You mean fuck sjp & her award right? Lol,” referring to Noth’s former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who’d received the Carol Burnett award at the Golden Globes a few days earlier. “Right,” Noth replied, setting off a firestorm of discourse.
Noth has not exactly gotten along with the AJLT crew since 2021, when he was accused by multiple women of sexual assault several days after the premiere aired the death of his character. As a result, Noth’s final scene was reportedly cut from the reboot’s season-one finale, and the show’s female leads — Parker included — publicly stood behind his accusers, writing in a joint statement that they were “deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth.” Noth has since repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, saying in a statement at the time that “no means no” and “that is a line I did not cross.”
Since then, he’s kept a relatively low profile — he’s appeared in one movie, 2025’s The Block, in the past five years. On Wednesday, he seemingly tried to walk back his comment, telling everyone that no one should be investigating whether Carrie and Mr. Big are beefing. He did so in an Instagram post featuring his own headshot, naturally, where he wrote, “My off-the-cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot.”
“It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion,” he added. “It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.” I’d say he has other things to worry about too?
