Warm up this winter with YorkMix – as we launch a series of events celebrating community and connection.
Winter can be a challenging time of year. The colder, darker months often bring feelings of isolation, higher living costs, and fewer opportunities to get out and connect with others.
That’s why YorkMix are proud to be hosting our inaugural Winter Warmers Coffee Morning Tour throughout January and February – visiting community spaces across North Yorkshire to offer warmth, companionship, and friendly conversation.
Our Winter Warmers events are completely free and open to everyone. At each stop, we provide a welcoming warm space, free tea and coffee, the chance to chat with others, and a live YorkMix broadcast celebrating local people and communities.
Most importantly, we offer connection – reminding everyone that they are not alone during the toughest months of the year.
Staying social and warm isn’t just comforting — it’s vital for both mental and physical wellbeing. Regular social interaction can help reduce feelings of loneliness, boost mood, improve confidence, and even strengthen immune health. Community spaces give us the chance to meet familiar faces, make new friends, and feel part of something positive and supportive.
David Gluck from The Barn in Tadcaster, one of our Winter Warmers Coffee Morning locations, said: “Our café is pretty popular and provides free hot drinks, food, and of course food parcels as required, plus advice from a range of agencies. Please bring your sparkle, enthusiasm and music!
“This will be followed by a thank-you lunch for all the volunteers, we are looking forward to meet those who gove up their time to support the community.”
