If you’ve been poking around Peacock to catch up on The Traitors or watch winter sports in preparation for the upcoming Olympics, you may have noticed that there’s a stylish new spy series starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson available to watch ASAP. Here’s what you need to know about every episode of PONIES.
The show follows Clarke and Richardson’s characters, Bea and Twila respectively, as they are thrown into the world of Cold War espionage when their husbands die on a mission in Moscow. They decide to take matters into their own hands, in their own way, by joining the CIA as undercover operatives themselves. As secretaries at the US Embassy in Moscow, the KGB classifies them as “PONI,” persons of no interest. Twila jokes that they’re ponies, hence the title of the show.
Learning on the job how to bug apartments and charm double agents while solving a murder mystery may not be the most effective way for Bea and Twila to grieve. But it is a pretty decent way to bond. Come for the spy intrigue, marvel at the lates ’70s fashion and analogue technology, buckle in for some wrenching twists, and stay for the start of a beautiful friendship.
