Ashton Kutcher is freshening up some dirty rumors about his personal hygiene following a controversial 2021 podcast appearance with wife Mila Kunis.
After Kutcher, 47, and Kunis, 42, raised eyebrows over their admission about their family’s showering habits (or speculated lack thereof) during a 2021 interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the actor cleared the air in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly’s sister publication, PEOPLE.
“It was the craziest thing of all time,” the Beauty TV series actor said of backlash to the couple’s prior comments.

He added, “We made a comment at one point, and people were like, ‘Does he stink? Does he smell?'”
Kutcher then turned toward his fellow Beauty actors Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope, and attempted to explain the situation to them.
“There was a comment on a podcast, so long ago… and people are like, ‘They don’t shower.’ I’m like, ‘I shower, I go to the gym, I shower,'” Kutcher told his costars.
With a laugh, Ramos told the publication, “I can confirm my boy showers.”
In the 2021 podcast episode, Kunis, who was born in the Soviet Union before moving to the U.S. at 7, admitted, “I didn’t have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn’t shower much anyway.” Later, she added of the couple’s children who were born in 2014 and 2016, “But when I had children, I also didn’t wash them every day…. I wasn’t that parent that bathed my newborns — ever.”

Kutcher half-jokingly observed, “Now, here’s the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”
Kutcher has courted attention for several recent interviews during The Beauty’s press tour, for everything ranging from a rare comment about ex-wife Demi Moore to an allegation that designer Tom Ford once fired him from a Gucci modeling gig for looking “too fat” in a pink Speedo.
The That ’70s Show alum praised Moore’s work in the 2024 film The Substance, after many fans drew comparisons between the Oscar-winning project and Ryan Murphy’s comic book adaptation The Beauty, as both revolve around people using mysterious substances in pursuit of physical perfection.

“One, Demi’s performance in The Substance, obviously she got extraordinary accolades. I’m so proud of her, she killed it,” Kutcher said, praising Moore.
