The God of War TV show recently found its Kratos, and now has found another major character, casting its Heimdall in the upcoming live-action series.

Who has joined the God of War TV show cast?

Max Parker is set to play the of Heimdall in the upcoming God of War TV show. Parker, best known for his time on the Netflix series Boots, will join the cast that recently just added Ryan Hurst as its lead character. Teresa Palmer is also set to star in the series, in the role of Sif, Thor’s wife.

Heimdall, one of Odin’s sons and the watchman of Asgard, is one of the many Norse Gods and is best known in mythology for watching for invaders from Himinbjörg, the place where the Bifröst meets the sky. His godly powers allow him to possess incredible foresight and senses, and in the God of War video games, is portrayed as a villainous character who uses his foresight to his advantage in battle.

“Handsome and dynamic, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family, and as a result Heimdall is constantly looking for ways to improve his position in the hierarchy and increase his stature and power,” reads the characters description.

The upcoming series “follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human,” according to a logline for the show.

The road to God of War’s live-action series beginning filming has been a long one. Originally announced in 2022, the series was originally being written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, with Rafe Judkins serving as showrunner to the series. In 2024, however, it was reported that all three had left the project after Sony and Amazon both reportedly wanted to go in a different direction.

After the exodus of the three, creator Ronald D. Moore was brought in to serve as the series’ lead writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Moore is a prominent sci-fi creator, dating back to his time as a writer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager. After Star Trek, Moore went on to develop and co-develop several television shows, including Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.

Cory Barlog, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee have remained on the series to executive produce. Emmy Award-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye (Shogun, The Boys, Fallout) has signed on to direct the first two episodes of the series.

God of War is a PlayStation action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studios. The show will follow Kratos, the God of War, who, “after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard,” Amazon’s description reads.
