It’s fair to say that Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth will forever be intertwined thanks to their standout roles as Carrie Bradshaw and Big in Sex and the City and its subsequent movies and spin-off series.

However, almost 30 years after their debut as one of TV’s most famous couples, Chris has confirmed that all is not well between him and his former costar, which probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering his shady Instagram activity earlier this year.

In case you missed it, Chris raised eyebrows after he posted a photo of himself working out alongside the caption: “F&@k new years – LETS GO!!!!” In the comments, somebody referenced Sarah Jessica’s recent Golden Globes Carol Burnett Award, writing: “You mean fcuk sjp & her award right? lol,” to which Chris replied: “Right.”
The actor later insisted that he was simply being sarcastic in his comment, saying in a follow-up post: “My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot. It is not news.”

“It is not worth all this discussion,” he went on. “It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
But now, Chris has admitted that his feelings toward Sarah Jessica soured because of how she reacted when he was accused of sexual assault back in 2021.

If you need reminding, shortly after Sex and the City’s sequel series And Just Like That… premiered, multiple women came forward accusing Chris of sexual assault — which he has vehemently denied.

The Hollywood Reporter initially published rape allegations from two women, one of whom claimed she met Chris in 2004, when she was 22 years old. The other woman alleged that she met Chris in 2015, when she was 25. After this report, a third woman came forward and alleged that Chris had sexually assaulted her in 2010, when she was 18 years old.

Chris called the allegations “a complete fabrication” that “read like a piece of bad fiction,” adding to USA Today at the time: “I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture. What it isn’t is a crime.”

Amid the allegations, Chris lost a $12 million deal to sell his Tequila brand, was removed from The Equalizer, and had a Peloton commercial pulled. It was also reported that he was removed from the Season 1 finale of And Just Like That…, which was supposed to feature a reunion scene between Carrie and Big following Big’s death in the first episode.

Sarah Jessica and her SATC/ AJLT castmates, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, issued a joint statement in support of the women who came forward, too. It read: “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

And Chris has now admitted that he found this statement “disappointing.” In a preview clip of his upcoming appearance on Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson, per People, Chris said of Sarah Jessica: “We’re not friends, I think that’s pretty obvious.”

“The statement that they put out — which was nothing more than brand management, really — I don’t know, it was sad, it was disappointing, it was surprising,” he went on. “Because you need to call me and hear my side of this. You’ve known me for many years, and we’ve worked [together] for many years.”

“I get it, that’s more Hollywood than Hollywood,” Chris added. “But before you make that statement, you know me, you’ve known me all these years, give me a call so I can give you the real scoop about this. And that didn’t happen, and that was too bad.”

Still, Chris insisted that “what’s gained is good,” explaining: “You know where people stand and you know who your real friends are and who they’re not. That’s important to know. I just know if it had been on the other hand, I wouldn’t have done that.” He concluded: “That was hurtful, and it really affected everything.”
