Police were alerted to the crash on SH2 at 5.15am this morning.

A cyclist has died following a crash on State Highway 2 in Dannevirke.

The crash, believed to have involved a person riding a bicycle, occurred near the intersection with Aerodrome Rd this morning and was reported to police at 5.15am.One person was found unresponsive at the scene by emergency services
and could not be revived.

Police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.

As a result, the road remains blocked and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes if able to.
