“One Battle After Another” is nominated for more than a dozen Oscars, fresh off the film’s success at the Golden Globes.
The action thriller, partly shot in El Paso, received a whopping 13 nominations, including for best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and for supporting actor (a faceoff between the film’s costars Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn). Golden Globe winner Teyana Taylor is also up for best supporting actress.
Hosted for the second consecutive year by Conan O’Brien, the Oscars will be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and air live on ABC and Hulu.
The Paul Thomas Anderson film was shot in El Paso for 18 days between May and June 2024 and contributed nearly $6 million in direct spending in El Paso, according to Destination El Paso, the city’s marketing organization. A significant portion of the spending was on building two major sets, which required extensive materials and labor.

El Pasoans were excited as local sightings of DiCaprio and del Toro began to surface — the pair were spotted filming in the Downtown area, and dining at Cafe Central. Del Toro was also captured attending a Chihuahuas baseball game.
