New Zealand international goalkeeper Geo Candy has signed for Australian club South Melbourne.
Candy (24) has joined the Victorian Women’s Premier League side after spells with women’s A-League clubs Melbourne Victory and the Wellington Phoenix.
A member of the New Zealand squad that won bronze at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay, Candy has been selected for Football Ferns squads but has yet to make her full international debut.
Originally from the Waikato, Candy joined the Phoenix academy in 2022, after playing for Wellington’s Waterside Karori and National League side Capital Football.
Announcing her arrival at South Melbourne, the club said in a statement: “A wonderful shot-stopper who is confident with her feet, Geo adds quality, composure and leadership between the sticks.”
