She is about to star in one of the most controversial seasons of Married At First Sight.

And Alessandra Rampolla was spotted looking tense and downcast during filming for the new season in Sydney recently.

The TV sexologist, 51, was worlds away from her cheery self when she stepped out onto her hotel balcony to take a phone call.

Alessandra’s concern grew as she stared out into the distance and she appeared to be on the verge of tears.

At one point, she paused to take a deep breath as if to compose herself.

Alessandra was getting TV ready for the day, sporting an orange and white striped dressing gown and a full face of make-up and styled tresses.

She accessorised her look with statement earrings and several bangles.

The Puerto Rican-born star recently told Daily Mail that viewers can expect a dramatic season that even pushed the experts to breaking point.

‘The women are feisty, combative and sometimes toxic,’ she said.

‘This is now my sixth year doing the series. In previous seasons, one or two participants carried most of the drama.

‘With this cast, the drama is spread out… and explosive,’ she added.

According to Alessandra, the new cast is full of ‘big personalities’, and fans should expect a few Jekyll and Hyde moments.

‘Some of the participants are lovely in casting… they have it all together, they’re hopeful, their behaviour is good and they appear to be honourable…

‘Then you watch them interact at the dinner parties, and sometimes I wonder, “Who is this person I spoke to you a few months ago?”

Asked whether there is one personality type that consistently struggles on the show, Alessandra was clear.

‘Whoever is not really ready to open up and be vulnerable and be real is going to struggle,’ she said.

Alessandra believes one of the biggest relationship issues this season is the cast’s obsession with instant chemistry.

‘I don’t understand why participants are always so hung up on initial attraction,’ she said.

‘Because they’re married at first sight, people assume it has to be love at first sight,’ she said.

‘But we’re thinking about commitment first, and then building the relationship. It’s the other way around.’
