Marco Pini is a London-based sound designer and a member of the band Sorry, and he’s also the frontman of an extremely buzzy new group called RIP Magic. Last year, RIP Magic dropped their two-song debut single “Loot” b/w “Dox” and played a bunch of high-profile live shows, including opening spots on LCD Soundsystem’s London gigs last December. (Maybe Harry Styles saw them.) Now, RIP Magic have a new single on the storied New York label DFA Records, and it’s produced by none other than LCD Soundsystem main man James Murphy.
According to a press release, RIP Magic’s new song “5words” is the first thing that Murphy has produced for a non-LCD band in a decade. It’s a strutting, swirling dance-rock jam that evokes the early DFA days. The 12″ single is coming out on DFA in March, and it’ll include a remix from dance legend Maurice Fulton. RIP Magic are also gearing up for a North American tour with Fcukers. Below, check out “5words” and the band’s tour dates.
