These horses have trialled pleasingly in recent weeks and this week (29/1/26) they head back to the racetrack.

Evie Royale (5m Fear The Dragon – On Tara) Tr. K Larsen

Not seen at the races since June 2025 but has been active at Southern trials/workouts registering two wins in recent weeks. The most recent at Winton (23/1/26) where she trailed then used passing lane to outpoint five  rivals in a 2:07.9MR, last 800m in 58.9. Goes to Invercargill this Thursday to commence a new campaign and has drawn nicely at two behind the mobile in Race 1. Has only had the three previous runs at the races. Rates as a half sister to the well-performed Lakelsa (7 wins and $182k) and got close to Leithen Louie (3 wins from 4 starts) when she qualified back in April 2025.

Louies Me Dad (3g Lord Forbes – Dream Angel) Tr. G Forbes

The veteran of only four race day starts and not that far away in recent times. Back at the above workout at Winton (23/1/26) and ran on nicely behind the afore-mentioned Evie Royale. Back at Invercargill on Thursday (Race 4) and has a good draw to work with against some fair opposition. Showed gate speed last start when well supported only to sit parked and just faded last bit. Picking that he might get across those drawn inside him at the start and likely to be highly competitive from that point.

Volare (3f Tall Dark Stranger – The Princess) Tr. H & A Cullen

Well-related filly set to make her race debut at Addington this Friday night in Race 2. Only qualified at the beginning of January (at her first attempt) then a nice second behind stablemate Captain Lawless at Rangiora workouts (14/1/26) MR:2:03.0, 800m in 57.6. Half relations in Princess Meritaten (7 wins and $156k) and Jesse Owens (2 wins from just 5 starts) add to her chances of becoming a handy racehorse. Drawn to race handily against a few that have been trying in the maiden grade for a while. Tote price should indicate the level of confidence amongst punters.

Show Stopper (3f Downbytheseaside – Hear The Cheers) Tr. C & C Dalgety

A tad green last week when resuming but still only a neck from the winner Scotlynn Crunch in a 1:58.7MR, last 800m in 58.0. Third up at Addington this Friday night in Race 6 and cops a handy draw again. Trials/Workout form prior to that resumption was very good including a strong placing behind open class pacer Dalton Shard. With natural improvement in her fitness, expecting her to be a key runner this week although up against some promising types.

Sammy Lincoln (3g Always B Miki – Samantha Q) Tr.Green & Delaney

Beaten favourite on debut last week behind stablemate Lincoln Wave but to be fair pushed them over the line in third in a 2:01.4MR, last 800m in 58.9. Second up this Friday night at Auckland in Race 2 and meets some nice maidens in a small but select field. Trials and workout form prior to debut was encouraging and good enough to reward those who stick with the ship. These small fields can often be tactical and young Harrison Orange has the responsibility to negotiate a suitable passage for his charge.

Bazooka (5g Bettor’s Delight – Asuka) Tr. S Reid

Race didn’t pan out last week but awesome in trial prior to that run when running away from good mare Esmeralda (14/1/26) in a 1:57.5MR, last 800m in 56.5. Proving a hard watch in the last six months but no doubting the ability if caught in the mood. Back at Addington this Friday night (Race 7) where he has drawn out wide but significantly inside his main opposition. Expecting him to go forward early and take the race by the scruff of the neck. Could this be the night when he climbs back on the top of the rostrum.
