For Border 2 to keep marching towards Rs. 400 crores+ lifetime, what it needed was a double digit Friday. Had the collections gone below that, then it would have been challenging for the Anurag Singh directed film to move towards that milestone. However, the film did well to not drop much when compared to Thursday (Rs. 13.14 crores) and brought in Rs. 12.53 crores, which is a good hold.

Border 2 Box Office: Has a double-digit second Friday, will grow huge today

As a result, the film has now moved to Rs. 257.50 crores and now it’s all about the jumps that it sees today and tomorrow. Going by the trend of established films that tend to jump really huge on their second Saturdays, even Border 2 should follow suit. Expectations are that at least Rs. 16-17 crores more will come in today and that would be quite good. There is India vs New Zealand T20 match in the evening so that may impact the footfalls a bit but then any shortfall will get covered tomorrow. The film will ideally be looking at Rs. 20 crores+ tomorrow but then Saturday to Sunday growth may not be much.

The Sunny Deol led ensemble affair is a superhit and it’s good to see 2026 starting well. What’s required though is for the momentum to continue and the next big one, O’ Romeo, could well be that movie which will take a double digit opening and then consolidate. Of course, the blockbuster stuff would come in March when Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups arrive but till then a couple of Rs. 100 crores and Rs. 50 crores will keep infusing life at the box office and help theatrical business stay alive.
