Bollywood star Salman Khan has addressed trolling and social media commentary about his appearance in the teaser of his upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan. The first look from the film, released on the actor’s birthday last year, drew mixed reactions online, with some users interpreting his intense expressions as “romantic” rather than aligning with the serious tone of a battle narrative.

Salman Khan BREAKS SILENCE on trolls over Battle of Galwan teaser expression: “Ye Colonel ka look hai”

At an Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) match in Surat, Khan responded directly to the criticism while interacting with former cricketer and commentator Mohammad Kaif. Asked to recreate the much-discussed moment from the teaser, he addressed the interpretations head-on. “Ab kisi ko ye samajh mein aata hai ki ye romantic look hai, lekin Colonel hoon bhaiya. Aur ye Colonel ka look hai, jo ki samajhta hai ki apne team walon ko, apne jawanon ko kaisa hosla dena hai,” he said, clarifying the intent behind his expression.

Salman went on to point out that the look was meant to convey leadership and encouragement rather than emotion out of place in a war film. “Iss sabka koi matlab hai nahin… Toh aise hi chalta aaya hai aur aise hi chalta rahega, aap sabki dua se,” he added.

#SalmanKhan gives solid Reply to trollers

Some people think this is a romantic look.
But I’m a colonel, so this is a colonel’s look. The kind of look that gives soldier the right kind of courage and motivation. It’s not the shouting kind of look #BattleOfGalwan pic.twitter.com/H2BdQFXPRX

The Battle of Galwan teaser shows Salman’s character, an army officer, poised amid an approaching conflict, his gaze focused on both his troops and the adversary. Some critics took issue with what they perceived as a softer edge to his expression, prompting commentary across social media platforms.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and based on the real-life 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese forces, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on April 17, 2026. It stars Salman Khan in the role of Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, one of the soldiers who laid down his life during the conflict, alongside Chitrangada Singh.
