Police have appealed for information on two people with warrants out for their arrest after two incidents in Hamilton last Thursday — one of which left a man critically injured.

Hone Haunui Neal, 40, and Hope Waimata Waitere, 29, were wanted over the two incidents on Vernall St and Lyon St on January 29.

Police said anyone who saw Neal or Waitere should not approach them and “instead call Police on 111 immediately with as much information as you can safely gather”.

Information on Neal or Waitere’s whereabouts could be provided online through 105.police.govt.nz, or by calling 105.

Officers were called to Lyon St shortly before midnight last Thursday after a violent incident at a residential property.

Scene guards were put in place as officers carried out inquiries, Detective Sergeant Johnathon O’Byrne said.

Around 2.40am on the same night, officers found a man with “significant injuries” on Avalon Dr.

Police said the injuries were consistent with an assault, and the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Anyone with information on last Thursday’s incidents was also asked to contact police, quoting file number 260129/1915.
