Google announced a string of AI updates recently that are coalescing into a revamped form of search that’s more conversational and, for some users, more personalized.
A new model here or an interface tweak there may not mean much in isolation. But the updates become more meaningful when taken together: Changes include Gemini 3 powering AI Overviews, AI Mode tapping into private data for some opted-in users, and the combination of AI Mode and Overviews.
Google didn’t explicitly describe how all those pieces fit together in its announcements, but the effect looks significant for the travel sector, with a smarter inspiration-and-planning flow embedded directly in search.
The familiar concern about losing clicks to AI-generated summaries still applies. That may just be the beginning, as conversational search responses get more intelligent and draw on a user’s real flight itineraries, hotel preferences, and travel memories.
