Fans of Joy Behar have been delighted to see her back on TV this week after a mysterious absence which saw her miss six consecutive episodes of The View.
The talk show’s co-host, 83, re-joined her colleagues on Tuesday morning for a special baby shower installment to mark the upcoming birth of co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin’s first child. At some point, Joy also met a mom in the audience who decided to name her baby girl after her.
In a video shared on social media, Joy could be seen alongside the audience member, who said she has been a fan of The View for over a decade and the decision to give her baby the middle name Joy came because the host is her favorite. “I love her humor, she reminds me of my grandma,” the fan said, as Joy laughed.

After a video of the moment was shared on social media, many fans agreed with the mom-to-be, and said Joy is also their favorite host. One posted, “She’s right… You are my favorite too Joy.” Another posted, “So much Joy in one moment.”

“Well, we NEED more Joy in our country and our world! Hugs to both of you,” a third shared. One more added, “That was so sweet.”
A fan commented, “My middle name is Joy and I love it.” Someone else posted, “Joy is my favorite too. She literally says everything I am thinking!” A viewer shared, “I adore Joy too – also my favourite!”
The sweet moment came as longtime panelist and comedian Joy returned to the show for the first time since the January 23 broadcast. Though she missed six episodes, two of them were pre-scheduled absences, as she and Whoopi Goldberg, 70, typically trade off days between them.
Joy usually has Mondays off, while Whoopi takes Fridays off, with Ana Navarro filling in for both of them. Last week, Whoopi addressed Joy’s absence but didn’t get into details. “We want to let you know Joy is out, she’s not feeling well, so we want her to feel better and get her behind back here,” she said.

The host’s six-episode absence was the longest she has ever gone without sitting at the Hot Topics table in recent years, even though she missed four episodes in November last year. Upon her return at the time, she revealed that an incident with a tech device had led to her extended absence.
“I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe,” she said. “And they put the toes together because it’s broken, and it’s very, very, very painful. I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes.”
Last month, Joy expressed her worries about Donald Trump declaring “martial law” in order to “cancel” the midterm elections this year. The host vocalized her concerns as the panel discussed the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, sparking widespread outrage amid the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration crackdown.

Joy, a vocal critic of the president, said she believes that Trump may take advantage of the public unrest and declare martial law in order to suspend the upcoming midterm elections and retain Republican control of Congress to avoid impeachment. “I worry about that Trump is looking for this kind of pandemonium to go on, like you just described. So that he could declare martial law or something and also cancel the midterms,” she shared.
“Well, under martial law, you won’t have elections,” co-host Sunny Hostin noted. Under martial law, the military assumes control of government functions and temporarily exercises authority over the civilian population. Martial law can be declared during times of war or civil unrest, and as Commander-in-Chief, Trump oversees military operations in the United States.
“Watch out for this guy!” Joy urged. “Because he’s worried. He even said, ‘If the Democrats take Congress next time, I will be impeached,’ which means that he could be convicted and sent to jail. He does not want that to happen.”
The View airs weekdays at 11am ET on ABC.
