It seems Jennifer Hudson will be joining Kelly Clarkson and Sherri Shepherd as her talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” was reportedly canceled.
Rob Shuter reported the news on his “Naughty or Nice” Substack on Thursday, February 5.
‘Jennifer Hudson Show’ Reportedly Canceled
“The Jennifer Hudson Show” is currently in its fourth season, and, according to Shuter, it will be the last.
“Jennifer is heartbroken. She really believed in this show,” a source told Shuter on Thursday.
Another insider claimed “The Voice” coach did not make the decision to end her show.
“This wasn’t her choice. She wanted to keep going,” the source noted.
The news comes just one day after The U.S. Sun reported that the beloved talk show was “in danger.”
“Jennifer’s team is panicking that they will be next on the chopping block after the news about Sherri and Kelly,” a source reportedly told the outlet on Wednesday, February 4. “And truth is, there does not seem to be much of a future for ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show.’”
The insider added, “It doesn’t make money, it doesn’t get good ratings or awards recognition…It’s just filler space until the network figures out how else it wants to use its airtime.”
“The Jennifer Hudson Show” premiered on September 12, 2022. The series was seemingly a replacement for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” as much of the staff moved over after its wrap. It’s also filmed on the same sound stage at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California.
Throughout its run, “The Jennifer Hudson Show” was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards.
‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ and ‘Sherri’ Also Canceled
The news of Hudson’s show ending comes on the heels of Kelly Clarkson announcing her talk show was coming to an end.
“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York,” she shared via Instagram on February 2. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons.”
She continued, “Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision — but this season will be my last hosting ‘TKCS.’”
The following day, it was announced the “Sherri” would also not be returning in the fall.
“Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv. You might’ve noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn’t feeling up to speed,” Shepherd wrote via Instagram. “Well it turns out I have Covid. As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out.”
