The tour is an opportunity to support growing trade and the relationship between the UK and Saudi Arabia. It is William’s first official visit to the Middle Eastern country.
Kensington Palace said: “At the request of His Majesty’s Government, The Prince of Wales will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between Monday 9th and Wednesday 11th February.”
This reason is that Catherine likes to be at home to stay with the couple’s children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
This is especially true during school term time, when the children have school work and busy schedules that the princess likes to be around for.
William and Catherine aren’t the only couple to do this, with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (although no longer working royals), also taking this approach.
While Harry sometimes goes away for charity work, Meghan does not always accompany him. Instead, it is believed she stays at home with their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
