Fire and Emergency shift manager Josh Pennefather told the Herald one person was trapped and crews were working to free them.
He said three fire trucks were in attendance.
Hato Hone St John has one helicopter, an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and one operations manager at the scene, a spokesperson told the Herald.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
Police advised motorists to avoid the area and expect delays.
