Sometimes it can be hard getting actors to do exactly what is needed on set. For Chris Hemsworth, motivating his daughter, India, while filming her role as Love in Avengers: Doomsday was almost impossible without a bit of bribery.
India Rose Hemsworth will join her famous dad when the pair return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this December. Having starred alongside Hemsworth’s God of Thunder in the divisive Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022, the now-13-year-old was not as easy to work with a second time, as Hemsworth explained during an appearance on The View. He said:
“She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one, and she walks on set and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’ I was like, ‘We haven’t even started!’”
Hemsworth went on to explain how after just one take, India was desperate to know, “Are we done?” Naturally, they were not, but having, as Hemsworth put it, an “angsty, sort of teenage attitude” she would usually end up mooching off set. He continued:
“And in the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set. She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’”
Hemsworth explained to his daughter that the money she made from the movie was going into a fund until she was 18, but the youngster was not accepting that. Eventually, Hemsworth agreed on a compromise to get his daughter to complete the scenes they needed.
“She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?’ I was like, ‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”
According to the senior Hemsworth, matters were not made any easier as the teen was attending a Billie Eilish concert that evening and was certain that they were going to miss it.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Bring Together All Corners of the MCU
While the Multiverse Saga has often failed to deliver the kind of storylines many fans would have liked to see, and the numerous universes and cameos that could have happened in the last five years, Avengers: Doomsday looks set to put all that right in one big epic swoop.
Not only will the first Avengers movie since Endgame bring back many of the franchise’s current heroes, but it will also see the return of original X-Men stars like Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Rominj. This, along with The Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Wakandans, Steve Rogers, and, of course, Robert Downey Jr.’s debut as Doctor Doom, the movie is almost guaranteed to be the biggest movie of 2026.
Of course, like Infinity War and Endgame, Doomsday will be just half the story. In 2027, the saga will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars, a film that can really only succeed if it is the most ambitious superhero movie ever put on screen. Can the Russo brothers make lightning strike twice and surpass Avengers: Endgame? We will find out on Dec. 18, 2026, when the beginning of the end of the Multiverse Saga arrives. The clock is ticking.
