Lexus New Zealand will introduce connected services with the launch of the new ES sedan, which is set to arrive mid-2026.

The addition of connected services to Lexus’ offering in New Zealand should elevate convenience and safety in its vehicles.

The more significant feature set to be added is the SOS emergency call function, which will automatically notify emergency services if the car detects a collision.

It also adds stolen vehicle tracking, which relies on the same GPS technology.

As for convenience features, the Lexus Connected app will allow owners to lock and unlock the vehicle, start it, and manage the climate control system remotely.

Owners will also be able to check the odometer reading, distance to empty, vehicle location, and notifications for unlocked doors or open windows.

To access these features, the Lexus vehicle operates through the vehicle’s inbuilt Data Communication Module (DCM) data plan, so won’t use a driver’s mobile data.

Lexus notes mobile data will be used however when an owner accesses features through the Lexus Connected app.

Speaking on these new services, Lexus New Zealand Vice President Andrew Davis believes these services will only elevate the ownership experience.

“The new ES brings together calm, refined driving with technology that genuinely supports the ownership experience. Connected Services make it easier for customers to stay informed, stay connected and feel supported whether they’re behind the wheel or away from the vehicle,” he says.

“It’s about giving drivers simple, intuitive access to the information and functions they need, without taking away from the quiet confidence and comfort Lexus is known for.”
