The session was in its final minutes when a wallaby strayed onto the track at Forrest’s Elbow, immediately into the path of Lee Stibbs’ IRC GT car.
An attempt to brake in time to avoid the animal was unsuccessful, Tyler Cheney then collecting the Stibbs car and the wallaby as he too was left with nowhere to go.
Cheney was able to continue under his own steam while Stibbs was left parked on the side of Conrod Straight with what looked to be damage at both ends of his car on the left hand side.
It is the second wildlife-related incident of the day after Ferrari Challenge practice was red flagged this morning due to a kangaroo on the circuit.
