Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has issued a clarifying statement regarding the availability of HBO content in Malaysia, following reports of Astro announcing the end of offering the channel on its platform.from March

The global media giant confirmed that while its partnership model with certain providers is evolving, its core portfolio—including HBO, Warner Bros., and Discovery—remains fully accessible to Malaysian audiences through long-term partner Unifi TV and direct-to-consumer streaming.(HBO Max)

WBD reaffirmed its strong ties with Unifi TV, confirming that the platform will continue to carry the full linear portfolio of HBO channels. This is to ensures that traditional TV viewers will not lose access to their favorite movie and family channels.

This confirmation comes after Astro said it will cease broadcasting HBO linear channels and remove HBO Max entitlements from their movie bundles effective March 1, 2026, following a change in their commercial agreement with WBD.

“We know and appreciate that there are many fans of our HBO channels in Malaysia,” a WBD spokesperson stated. “We are pleased to confirm that the HBO portfolio can still be enjoyed through our long-term partner Unifi TV and via direct subscription.”
